Dorell Ben
Dorell Ben is an interdisciplinary researcher whose primary focus is on Oceanian tattoos and the narratives that surround tattoos in the Pacific. She is also a contemporary artist whose interests are in abstract art, and currently has been incorporating research on tattoo motifs into her art. Ben’s interests in narratives are in literatures and current works that are in the renaissances of Pacific women’s cultural tattoo art. She focuses on the ways women approach tattoo to decolonise their identities and reclaim Pacific cultural identities to empower other Pacific women through art. Ben is a Rotuman Gujarati woman from Fiji, currently pursuing a PhD in Arts at Griffith University.
