Jay Pather
Jay Pather is Professor at the University of Cape Town, where he directs the Institute for Creative Arts. He curates the Infecting the City Public Art Festival and the ICA Live Art Festival in Cape Town, Afrovibes in the Netherlands, co-curates Body Image Movement in Madrid, Africa 2021 in France, and Spier Light Art. His choreography includes deconstruction of classical works such as Julius Caesar at the Johannesburg Stock Exhchange and rite, an adaptation of Stravinsky?s Le Sacre du Printemps, in Maboneng, Johannesburg. Recent publications include articles in Changing Metropolis ll, Rogue Urbanism, The Theater Journal, Performing Cities and Where Strangers Meet and editing a book, Acts of Transgression, Live Art in South Africa. Recent talks include Inventur in Dusseldorf, for Independent Curators International in New York City and Accra, Sommerakademie in Venice, and at the Haus der Kunst in Munich. He was recently made Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government.
