Li Yizhuo
Li Yizhuo is a researcher and curator of experimental, archival, and cartographic endeavors in contemporary art. At the Al Balad Residency (Jeddah), Li’s ongoing “Upstairs Map” examines women’s history in upstairs space to reconfigure maps. Li was also in residence at Alfred University’s Institute for Electronic Arts. She has curated “Viral Transmission: A Medium in Between” at OCAT Institute Beijing, shortlisted for the 2020 Research-Based Curatorial Project. In writing, Li explores emergent concepts through historical passageways, contributing to Nonument (Ljubljana), House Letters, and Yell Space’s exhibition Partial Archive (Shanghai).
Currently a Prae-doc in Chinese Studies at the University of Vienna, Li has degrees in art history (NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts), English, and psychology (Tsinghua University). From 2018 to 2020, Li directed FRESCO Collective in New York, a nonprofit art organization serving to bridge the academic community and public audiences.
