Cheryl Stobie
Cheryl Stobie is a Professor Emerita of English Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg campus. Her research interests focus on representations of gender, sexuality, race and nation in contemporary written and visual texts, mainly South/African. Her latest publications include articles analysing representations of precarity, vulnerability, human rights and conviviality in recent fiction. A rated scholar by the South African National Research Foundation, she has been involved in numerous individual and collaborative research projects. As one of the editors of Current Writing: Text and Reception in Southern Africa she regularly edits special issues of the journal.
