Christoffel Kuenen

Christoffel Kuenen is an associate professor in interaction design at Umeå Institute of Design and co-founder of the Interpresence Institute at Umeå University. His research is concerned with how the things that people use play a role in their experiences of being together. In his work he explores what aesthetics refers to in the context of designing (digital) systems that mediate and stage interactions between people and objects. He conducts his work by articulating and developing ideas through designing and making things together with others. His PhD thesis was titled “Aesthetics of Being Together”. Another mode of developing his embodied understanding of togetherness is through dancing and teaching Argentine Tango.
