Karin Bähler Lavér

Karin Bähler Lavér is a curator and facilitator based in Malmö, whose work centers on art’s potential to cultivate shared imaginaries and new forms of being-in-common. She is the artistic director of skēnē – space for contemporary art, a curatorial and editorial platform dedicated to cross-disciplinary dialogue and international collaboration. Through skēnē, she has developed exhibitions, programs and publications featuring artists and thinkers such as Karen Archey, Marianne Heier, Lila Lee-Morrison, Plattform KC Syd, Shamica Ruddock and Julia Selin, among others. 

Karin Bähler Lavér’s practice consistently emphasises the curatorial as a shared, processual space—one that relies on conversation, co-authorship, and the exchange of perspectives across borders and disciplines. Her previous curatorial projects include Underneath the Paving Stone at Lunds konsthall (2025), featuring among others Lygia Clark, Anne Tallentire and Yuko Mohri and The 2020 Luleå Biennial: Time on Earth, co-curated with Emily Fahlén and Asrin Haidari, a collaboration between artists and thinkers addressing realism, temporality and ecologies across northern geographies.
