Melissa Gordon

Melissa Gordon is an American and British painter, writer, and editor based in Brussels, and is the Professor of Painting at Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Her practice investigates histories and behaviors of gesture. Recent exhibitions include: “Liquid Gestures,” Towner Gallery, Eastbourne; “The Biennial of Painting,” Museum Dhont-Dhaenens, Deurle; “Heavy Metal Parking Lot,” GARAGE, Rotterdam; and “The Mechanics of Fluids”, Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York. She has exhibited widely, including at Vleeshal, Middelburg; WIELS Center for Contemporary Art, Brussels; Spike Island, Bristol; Kunsthal Oslo; and Eastside Projects, Birmingham, among other venues. With Marina Vishmidt, she published the magazines LABOUR and PERSONA, and recently developed the website http://alivingarchive.com/, which collates over ten years of collective feminist activities.
