Close Attention

Editor:
Rose Brander

The Close Attention research theme seeks to learn from artistic methods and practices that prioritise working site-responsively, and that demonstrate profound listening across multiple ways of knowing and being. Through situated encounters and collaborative methodologies, the project aims to challenge rapid, extractive systems of knowledge production by emphasizing deep listening and careful observation.

Structured around a monthly reading group and an occasional seminar series, the project focuses on attention as a radical political and artistic practice, and the value of patient, non-instrumental approaches to learning. Each session aims to create space for multiple perspectives and ways of knowing, fostering dialogue between artists, researchers, and practitioners across disciplines.
