Annelies Vaneycken

Annelies Vaneycken (BE, 1976) is a designer, educator, and researcher. Her practice intersects design, art, politics, and everyday life where she creates support structures, social spaces, and narratives that open up normative perspectives and attitudes towards specific groups in society. She holds a Ph.D. in Design from HDK-Valand Academy of Arts and Design at the University of Gothenburg (2020) contributing to democratising design practices and design for democracy. She was a 2014-2017 Research Fellow in the EU Marie Curie project TRADERS investigating artists’ and designers’ approaches when working with citizens on their participation in public space issues. She taught at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels (1999-2014) and HDK-Valand Academy of Arts and Design in Gothenburg (2015-2020). She founded her Visual Communication studio Trans-ID in Brussels in 1999 where she mainly worked on printed matter and editorial work. She self-publishes artistic publications as Pigeon Paper.
