Hope Pearl Strickland
Hope Pearl Strickland is a British Jamaican artist-filmmaker and researcher from Manchester. Their films shift between digital, archival and analogue formats, combining documentary and experiment-based modes. A recurring concern is how to wrestle with the choices undertaken when we visualise racialised violence, exploring how we might live in a world and relate to one another with care while working among and against systems of power and control. Hope’s work has screened internationally at film festivals, including the 59th New York Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival (2022), International Film Festival Rotterdam (2025) and Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival (New Cinema Awards, 2025). They are an Associate Lecturer at the Royal College of Art, London, and a practice-based PhD Candidate in Film at the University of Westminster. Hope was shortlisted for the Film London Jarman Award 2025.
